Elvis has left the building

Apparently tomorrow is (or would be) Elvis' 73rd birthday. To commemorate the special day, his fan club or fundraising club or "high ups" of the fan clubs are meeting here in my work building today. Technically my office is in an on campus Holiday Inn hotel that hosts many business travelers. There are meetings and banquets all the time. The "fans" made me laugh this morning, all in black Elvis t-shirts and funny signs, hugging and kissing and introducing one another.

"This is his first trip here to Graceland"

"Wow! Welcome!"

We're not even AT Graceland, but to Elvis fanatics, Memphis IS Elvis. Memphis = Graceland. Apparently there's a limo outside my window and Pricilla Presley is in the building. Seriously. I'm going to take a break and see if I can spot her...

... 30 minutes later. I researched and found out that this meeting is:
Elvis Fan Club Presidents' Event
10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. Fogelmen Executive Conference Center, University of Memphis independent Elvis fan clubs from around the world with the management of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. (EPE). EPE will present a program of company updates and a Q&A forum. Special guest speaker at the event will be Larry Geller. Fan club presidents' have been sent invitations with detailed information to register for event. This is an invitation-only event.

So if all the hoopla and stir around the hotel is about Larry Geller, I'm not interested in playing papparazzi today. I did stare at/stalk the nice car with a camera for 11 minutes before I got too bored and had to move on. I think observing the folks AT the gathering may be more fun than seeing someone famous anyway.

... 1 hour later
So someone claims Pricilla was down the hall afterward. Missed my chance.

But I did run into a fan that was wearing homemade Elvis material MC Hammer pants.

OMG! That is too funny. I miss the Elvis-hysteria that surrounded Memphis.
