Sweet Dreams

It's my last night in Atlanta. We spent the evening at an arts show hosted by Bill and Jordan's neighbor. Each piece was created by her daughter, a senior in high school (to be). It was interesting and you can tell she's very talented - sculpture, painting, a bit of photography, mixed mediums. It was also dark. Maybe in a "teenage" way, maybe in just a disturbed or confused way. The word "death" and weather vanes (north/south/east/west) worked their way into many of her pieces. Appreciated but not for my walls!

After the show and a bit of rain, we found ourselves at a little Mexican restaurant where we shared some guacamole for dinner. One of the best recipes I've had - fresh tomato, red onion, and spices. Fresh. Yummy.

What prompted me to write was Jordan's goodnight treat - a glass of chocolate milk before bed. It was such a treat, so comforting somehow. I immediately thought of my sister Emily. Growing up she always had a chocolate milk or an orange soda mustache. A stained upper lip, always. The chocolate milk really made me feel at home, like I was 8 years old again. What makes you feel that way? Comfort food? A smell? A place? Do something nice for yourself. It's good for the soul. Share your idea, too... I'm curious...

what a great bedtime snack. all you needed was a "sippee" cup and it would be childhood all over again. i miss that for sure.
