Well, Monday was a good day. I "successfully" proposed my thesis which means that I met with my committee, talked about my research plans, and got the committee's approval to proceed. I got "THE" signatures of the three professors, in black ink, so my first big hurdle is officially clear. Now it's time to address the four major points we discussed, edit, read, write, get approval for my new surveys, collect data, run stats, and write some more. It's that simple. At least I can see the light at the end of the thesis tunnel. Funny, it could be the light at the end of the tunnel or a headlight on a thesis train about to hit me head on.
Better than the thesis proposal though was the date with Derrick that followed. He completely surprised me with a celebration dream date/dinner at Folk's Folly. This is a steakhouse that I've passed by for 5 years and always wanted an excuse to visit. And my sweet, thoughtful, supportive, amazing hubby made it happen. I don't know how, but the experience somehow lived up to, well, exceeded the expectations I'd built up about the place.
The lighting is perfect, the service is amazing, the menu is FoodTv worthy and I had the hottest date in town. I ordered a petite filet that was just unreal with mashed sweet potatoes (yummmm) and merlot. Derrick had a good sized pork chop. And plenty of fresh bread and real butter, so European to me. The smile on my face just got wider when our waitress brought out a big surprise brownie with vanilla ice cream and a tall, skinny blue candle on top to help me celebrate my special thesis day. I blew out the candle and told Derrick we should have taken off my wedding ring and acted like he was proposing to me at the table. They may have thrown in complimentary champagne.
At the end of the night, the security guard ushered me to the car with his umbrella in hand and Derrick and I headed home to relax. It was a wonderful, truly thoughtful and special evening so big, big thanks to my hubby. I'm a lucky gal.
