Let's go for a walk

Lately I've been trying to take the pups on more walks. Typically they exhaust themselves in the backyard, but they get so excited at the sight of a leash that I feel like each walk we take is like a field trip that they will be happy about for the rest of the day. Plus, I like the idea of wearing down their little nails on the asphalt and potentially delaying another grooming appointment.

For the past year, every time we take a walk Daphne and Roz prefer to be side by side on my left. Daph will always arrange it so that she's on the outside and Roz is inside. Roz will always pull so hard that I probably need to get a harness so she'll quit choking herself. This week was different though. Daphne has been taking her position on my left, but Roz scoots herself behind me and follows my every step. I don't get it. It's funny because most dogs are running around, leading the way, pulling in different directions, but Roz has played follow-the-leader all week. I know it's not headline news, but their little behavioral changes can be so funny.

I think if I'm talking about walking my dogs and bring up "behavioral changes" it's time for me to get out of school before I start talking like a textbook and the dogs are my only friends.
