You look just like...

Before I begin, let me preface this post by stating that I have no delusions to think I actually look like Cameron Diaz. Moving on...

It's not often that people say to me, "You look like ________". I think my husband gets that more often.

In college I worked at a camp called Passport. A couple of campers told me I looked like "that girl from those movies". After some actress deducing, we figured out that they meant Drew Barrymore. I think this was during her Ever After days, a movie which I (and my friend Cindy) loved. Drew has a young, round face so I think that's the connection.

Last semester I had a student from my intro psych class tell me I looked like the mom on Pay It Forward. Again, they didn't know her name but they meant Helen Hunt. From the nose up - blond hair, her forehead, and the shape of her eyes - I would agree are similar to mine. I adore her in Mad About You.

An old, old friend told me I resembled Cameron Diaz. She's definitely beautiful and unique, but I look nothing like her. I think it's just that we both have long legs (see leggy pic). That being said, I will gladly take any compliment or illusion that compares me to beautiful actresses.

Finally, the most random, I was shopping at Bed, Bath and Beyond. The Indian man at the cash register told me I looked like the aunt from the TV show Still Standing. I'd never heard of it so we discussed the plot a bit and I went home to Google-stalk this character. The actress is Jennifer Irwin and she also has blond hair.

The better "you look like" stories are about my husband. He meets a lot of new people every day and part of his job is to have some sort of conversation with each patient.

He told me after work one day that a patient said he looked like John Cena. Again, I had to Google the guy who is apparently a wrestler. A few weeks later Derrick and I were walking through a parking lot together when a security guard in the lot yelled at Derrick, "HEY, JOHN CENA!!" I had to laugh out loud at how random it was and now two votes were in for this resemblance. I must admit though when I saw the shirtless picture on the left, I would have to agree with the security guard.

The funniest look-alike story is the patient that told D he looked like Randy Travis. That's really all I have to say about that. It stands on its own.

The most common "you look like" that Derrick gets is Matt Damon. And I must admit I'm glad this is the most popular vote! The blue eyes, the structure of his face are Derrick-like. Oh, and did I mention that Mr. Damon was last year's Sexiest Man of the Year? Okay I'll stop before D makes me delete this post.
