Independence Sugar Cookie

Courtney and her husband were kind enough to invite Derrick and I to share in their 4th of July BBQ dinner. It was so good to spend time with friends, to meet new friends, to relax with good company.... and eat! Drew and Courtney are quite the cooks and the homemade BBQ, homemade slaw, orzo salad, homemade sauce - everything - was awesome. I contributed a famous, favorite snack from our friends back home - Arkansas Caviar, and a Fourth of July inspired cookie. I'm a big fan of barely cooked cookies so this large, one-piece sheet cookie was not easy. In fact, my first attempt was too crunchy so it was tossed. My second attempt was better, but fell into pieces so I had to reassemble the puzzle cookie and hide cracks with the "icing". Broken or not, it tasted yummy!
