Ciao, bella

I was reading an interview with Nicole Kidman in In Style magazine.
She was asked about how much "order" she wants in her life and she went on to say...
"I try not to have too much stuff... I like the idea of shedding things... I don't really keep photos; I tend not to keep a lot of things for posterity."

"I think that the power of memory and the way in which you remember something is so much better than something you can just hold in your hand and look at."

I like the idea that the "way you remember something" is all you need. Whether it's completely accurate or whether you remember details or not. I ran across this picture taken by Megan the other day and it's a great example of 'how' I remember something very, very dear to me....

ITALY!!! When I think about it, the semester was only 3 months long but it's impacted my life since in so, so many ways. My friends, my home in Memphis, my career choice, my decorating style, the way I think about the world, food, and even my faith (I'll save that for another blog). Look at that pic. Big surprise my jeans are up above my ankles (ha) and I'm just sitting in a small room but I was so, so happy. The Nicole Kidman interview made me think of it because the daily class schedule, campus, and random things escape my memory but the traveling, the art, the people, the smells, the culture, and the joy I felt there I'll have forever.

I love how Italy is such a part of who I am. It was such a random chance that I ended up in Paderno del Grappa, but it was meant to be. School, travel, history, and exploring new everything. One of the happiest times in my life. It is important to note that in this particular pic I am especially happy because my friend Megan was visiting. In Italia! I guess that's the only way to make the best things in your world even better... to share it with someone you love. And that's why I had to return...
